Interesting Job Posting at US Department of State

The State Department Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) is seeking a qualified person to serve as Deputy Director of the Digital Outreach Team, a contract position. Ideal candidates for the position will have field experience in the Middle East and/or South Asia and possess a strong understanding of current events, recent history and cultural issues related to those regions. Ideal candidates will have work experience in the State Department or with other foreign affairs agencies and have a well-rounded understanding of U.S. relations with these regions. Candidates for the position should have excellent editing skills and an appreciation for the art of engaging foreign audiences. Good leadership and interpersonal skills are required. An understanding of the cyberspace scene is a plus. Written fluency in one of the regional languages is a plus but not a requirement.

The deputy director for the Digital Outreach Team will assist the DOT director in the development, coordination, and dissemination of online messages; assist with supervising the activities of the DOT’s linguists/analysts; assist with the preparation of analytical and briefing materials for senior officials and others in the USG; and act as director in the director’s absence.
